State CX

Racing with a cold is not fun at all. Especially in a cyclocross race. Those races are hard enough on the lungs. My race was 45 minutes plus 2 laps. There were 7 women total in the Women’s Open race. We started a minute after the Men’s “B” Race.

Mark said “Go”…or something to that effect…and the race was off. I started off fast for the first lap. Tammy Meehan pulled through the second lap. The third lap I pulled through and evidentally pushed it on one of the uphills. I rode the rest of the race alone. I played cat and mouse with a few of the men. DQ said I had over a minute gap, but who knows. I came across the line, well not really because I was told to stop because the men’s race leader was just behind me and it would be pointless for me to do an extra lap since all the other women had been passed by him, in first place. So I was named state champion in cyclocross. I guess this CX thing is sort of clicking. I’m starting to actually push myself.

The course was fairly technical. There was one right hand turn that was really sketchy. It was going down hill. You had to make a right turn and run up a hill over two barriers. That was probably the worst section of the race. The rest of it was pretty smooth flowing. I was able to recover more than the past races. The course was fairly smooth, I didn’t notice it being rough during the race at least. Awesome event and the promoters did a great job organizing it. They even raffled off a 2007 Specialized cross bike. I didn’t buy a ticket, and probably wouldn’t have won anyway because I’m not that lucky. Next up, who knows! Have a good one!

Rain

The past two days have been really crummy. I didn’t ride yesterday and am not riding today. Tomorrow I will definitely have to get out for a ride. Sunday is still up in the air. School is still stressful, but I’m dealing with it. I get to write a speech about bicycle laws. That should be interesting. Ok that’s all I have to say for now.

Update

Not much has really been happening to me lately. I guess that’s a good thing though, right? Since the racing season is over, I’ve been pretty bored. My training completely sucks. I ride, sometimes. I basically just ride when I feel like it, have the time, and the weather is nice. On average, I’m riding probably 5 days a week, but no intensity. I have this training program thing that I’ve been working on that’s supposed to start on Saturday. Hopefully that will help me get a little more motivated. I like to have schedules I guess is part of the reason I designed a training program for myself. Guess we will see if it does any good for me next season!

School sucks. I wish I didn’t have to go. I am taking Creative Writing, not a clue why. We are starting the poetry section, and I am not a poet by any means. This is going to suck. Classes are getting harder. Fortunantly I have more time for homework since I’m getting screwed for hours at my job. Politics suck. I have to sign up for classes for next semester sometime soon. Also, I have to send out applications to CSU, CU, and U of I. Hopefully I get that done this week.

My Cannondale still has a dent in it. I only ride it when I have to. This is when it’s raining outside or extremely cold. I ride it on the rollers. I’ve been doing a lot of mountain biking. Matt added a sweet new section to the trail. It’s now 5.2 miles long hurray!! I’m really looking forward to wearing the new section in. Right now it’s pretty soft, but it’s extremely technical and that’s how I like it.

No State Cyclocross for me this weekend. I have other plans. I’d rather be racing though! Doesn’t look like I’ll be making the Decorah night race either. There’s a poetry reading I have to attend for my CW class. It’s required, how janky is that?

I like to ride my mountain bike at night. My light is pretty bright and lights up the entire trail. I can’t wait until it snows so I can ride under the moonlight. Now that’s fun!

No more group rides. Last Tuesday pretty much determined that. I don’t think I’ll put forth the effort in going tonight. I’d rather do some mountain biking.

Ok, time to go ride. Just thought I’d update since my blog is pretty empty. Have a good day!

New Blog

So my original blog —> http://mtb05grl.blogspot.com <--- got deleted, on accident. I had to create a new one, which really bites, but hopefully this works out well. As you can see, my address hasn't really changed, I just added one letter. Hope it doesn't cause too much confusion. You won't get anywhere without the "i" because the blog is deleted. That's all for now. Spread the word that it's changed...thanks!!
